Ok, I’ve always loved Google, but this is very cool. They are going to have a booth at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, and are crediting Star Trek for predicting blogs. Link.

In other Trek related news (and I’m way late in posting this as I’ve been a bit under the weather) all the Trek Captains are going to provide voice work for the new Star Trek Legacy game by Bethesda, who did such a fantastic job with Oblivion. I can’t wait for this game in the fall. It might actually tear me away from Oblivion and the Sims2, lol.

Between being busy at work and discovering that I’m a little rusty at the whole music vid thing (this is my first one in six months) I’ve not been around too much lately. Hopefully, I’ll get caught up on everything soon. I know it’s a little early, but I may wind up working late the next few days.

Well without babbling on too much, here’s the vid, Change the World by Eric Clapton. A bit different from last year’s I think, but hopefully still fun for everyone. I’ve included both a windows media player and quicktime version, although I’m not sure how well Adobe Premiere Elements did with creating the quicktime files.  The filesizes on the quicktime ones are pretty enormous but I don’t know how to fix that with this program. I apologize if I missed anyone in the credits (I probably did).Comments/feedback always welcome.

Please download to your local computer (should just be able to right/option click and Save As). It is kinder to my bandwith and you’ll get a better playback.

The new car will arrive at the docks tomorrow, but it probably won't be ready for pickup until late Monday or Tuesday (depending on when they unload the barge). In the meantime, I've been working on a P/C wallpaper. Not sure if I'm happy with the middle (might be a tad busy). The texture is by [info]inxsomniax, brushes are by [info]inxsomniax and [info]colorfilter. Lyrics are by Eric Clapton.

Take, comment, use, credit, if it floats your boat. No hotlinking please :)

Be careful of reading PS interviews if you don’t want spoilers for X-Men3. He’s been naughty lately and dropping spoilers (which could be misdirections) but best to avoid if you don’t want to be spoiled. Particularly avoid one that appears on Comics2Film, LOL.

Reminder: The June icon contest for [info]stewart_daily. Submissions due by May 26. Please check this link for rules/submission info.

I am hopelessly hooked on the PC game, Oblivion. I’ve played lots of RPGs in my day, but never has one been so immersive. For those that enjoy playing stealthy types, one of the main programmers from the Thief series designed the stealth components of this game. The stealth ability has greatly improved since Bethesda's previous game, Morrowind. For once, thief missions involve sneaking in and out of places like a cat burglar, rather than just assassin missions. In fact, it is a bit of a challenge to even find the thieves guild.

Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, Terrence Stamp and Lynda Carter provide extra flavor to the game via voice acting. Patrick Stewart starts off the game providing the voice of the Emperor. In the hands of someone else, the dialog might have come across as cheesy. In Stewart’s hands, it gets the game off to a fantastic start.

I went through the opening scenario a few times, not just to hear Patrick Stewart (although that was an added bonus), but to test the new character creation model. Rather than  picking stats, skills, professions and a whole bunch of options, you pick a race, name, and gender and then start playing the game. At the end of the first scenario, the game will suggest (via a character in game) a possible profession. During your escape with the Emperor you come across many weapons and armor types and depending on what you choose and how you handle certain situations, the game will suggest a class. If you don’t like the class suggested, you can choose another or make one that is entirely unique. I really loved this feature. I can remember spending quite some time in other games choosing stats and skills and then after spending more than a hour preparing to play, find out I hated the mechanics of the game or whatever, and never play the game again. This is a very clever solution.

Someone from PSN posted interviews of the TNG cast (minus LeVar Burton) on YouTube. Link to Patrick and Jonathan. Link to Michael and Marina (and possbly beginning of Gates). Link to Gates and Brent. Do these save locally or is that not possible with YouTube – ok admitting I’m a YouTube virgin, LOL.

Have a great Friday everyone!

I haven’t read the book yet, (I am such a slacker) but if you’re a fan of the book the DaVinci code or just a person who loves puzzles, Google has a 24 day DaVinici code challenge going. (Link)

Ok. I told myself I wasn't going to get steamed over this, but it is easier said than done. First of all the screencap galleries were something I shared with everyone, free, with no ads, no need for credit to use etc. They take a considerable amount of time, not to mention $$$ to host over 10000 images (and I was only halfway through Season 4). I don't correct color, contrast, sharpness, basically you get it as is from the DVD. How you resize, color, alter it, is up to you. The fact that icon gfx/artists sometimes found it useful for their work was flattering, but it wasn't why I put up the site. This is a hobby for me, one I've been happy to share. When some gfx people contacted me and said I had screencaps they couldn't find at other sites, I was happy to weed less and post more, even though it meant my monthly hosting costs doubled. Why? Because I enjoyed sharing something I loved, namely Star Trek and in particular Picard/Crusher and Patrick Stewart. I wasn't looking to host perfect screencaps, be a complete resource, looking for kudos etc. I don't know that I've ever used a screencap, "as is" for an icon, wallpaper etc. There's usually all kinds of tweaks that have to happen before I am happy with it. I told myself that I wasn't going to let it get to me this time, because I've been here before and I just can't win. No matter what, people are going to be unhappy and then the complaints, whines, and demands start. Well you know what? It does bother me. Image too dark, image size a few pixels off the perfect 4:3 ratio, open your favorite image program and adjust it to your liking. Can't do that? Get the f*cking DVDs and screencap them yourself. Any idea how long it would take to get over 10000 images perfect? I doubt I'd finish TNG anytime in the near future, and you know what, there'd still be people telling me I had it all wrong. Of course, people always "mean well". Great. These weren't works of art up for a critique. They were bloody screencaps, something to open a dialog about the episode, a hated line of dialog, a favorite look, reminesce about the episode or just drool over the pics if that floated your boat.

Well I've had it and I've deleted all the Image Galleries. I need to step back for a few days and decide what happens from here. At this point, the answer would be to f*ck it all.
